Salvation in His Death and Resurrection

1 min read

For if we, when we were still enemies, were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more we, who are now reconciled, will surely be saved by His life! (Romans 5:10)

The death and resurrection of Christ give us new life. Just as He died for us, He was also raised for us (Rom. 4:25). Just as we need His death, we also need His resurrection. The absence of either of these would reduce the gospel to futility. Through the death of the Lord Jesus we are saved from everything belonging to Adam, that is to say, from the natural. By His resurrection we can enter into everything that belongs to Christ, that is to say, what is beyond the natural. His death saves us from the position and experience of a sinner so that we are no longer sinners. His resurrection makes us righteous, giving us the position and experience of the righteous. “Therefore whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old has passed away, indeed the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:17).
